“Wa alaykumus salaam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh, I got to know about IOU from my biological brother who was also informed by the exam proctor of my area. In fact, my overall experience with IOU cannot be overemphasized. It has quenched my thirst for traveling outside my country of residence to study Islam. IOU has not only exposed me to authentic knowledge about Islam but also aroused my interest to study more.”
“I got to know about the IOU through people who proposed to the Organization of Muslims in Hungary to be an exam center for the IOU. The IOU has a very clear-cut curricula, reasonable tuition fees and offered online education. On the webpage of IOU, I have learned about the BMAIS program and I was admitted to it. IOU represents the middle course in Islam; the moderate and balanced way of Islamic jurisprudence. IOU gives knowledge on the way of Ahl as-Sunnah and prepares its students to be the teachers of Islam with the ability of contributing to the revival of Islam and Muslims. For me, it was a pleasure to learn from brilliant scholars, to listen to their lectures and seminars and I do hope that someday, I can meet them and thank them for the knowledge and understanding they gave me, by the will of Allah.”
“I have spent a wonderful time as a student of IOU and would like to advise all brothers and sisters not to miss this golden chance to get an authentic and wonderful knowledge of Islam without leaving your home; just with one click while sitting in your home. I would like to congratulate our beloved Sheikh Dr. Bilal Philips for the tremendous job he has done for all of us, and pray to Allah to give him more courage and support in all the noble causes he is doing or planning to do. We all are with him in this noble cause of “Changing the Nation through Education.” In the end, I want to pray for all of those who are supporting IOU in any way; physically, financially, or morally, and may Allah give us strength to act upon this knowledge and to spread this to others.”
“As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, I am Sauda Olaniyan from Nigeria, married with kids. I have BSc in Chemistry. I used to teach at a secondary school but presently, I am into farming. I have made so much effort in both past and present to learn and practise the pristine Islam by reading various Islamic literature and attending Islamic programs; these have really helped. Allah crowned this effort with the advice of a friend on the Facebook to enrol in IOU to a tuition-free online degree program in Islamic studies. Alhamdulillah that I yielded to the advice. With my little experience with IOU, it is now obvious to me that the knowledge of Islam in its totality is essential for all Muslims. In shaa Allah, I will continue to be a student of knowledge for life. I am very grateful to my husband for his support and the understanding. May Allah reward the entire board of IOU for the great job you are doing. Jazakumullahu Khairan.”
“I was introduced to the Islamic Online University through Sheikh Yusuf Estes in one of his TV shows on Guide US TV. Once I heard about the program, I immediately researched it and signed up. Alhamdulilah, I finished the Bridge to MAIS program and I am waiting to start my Masters in Islamic Studies; and in the future the PhD program, inshaAllah. My experience with the IOU was wonderful as I have learnt from excellent teachers, TAs and course material that is very similar to the top Islamic universities in the world. I was also excited to join the IOU as this is a program by Dr. Bilal Philips.”
“Few years ago, when I was searching for online Islamic universities, I found Dr. Bilal’s website where he had announced that he would be launching a BA program in Islamic studies very soon. I immediately got enrolled with a super excitement. I was already engaged with few other online institutions but none of them personally satisfied me. I badly wanted to learn Islam with a proper methodology and I was always looking for ways through which I can enhance my knowledge of my deen. I must say, Islamic Online University came into my life as a blessing, which quenched my thirst. I have never enjoyed studying anything in my life, as I have studied BAIS at the IOU.”
“I live in UK since 2002. My late father was a graduate from the Azhar University in Egypt and an imam in my city. Since my childhood, he taught me tafseer and hadith in my mother tongue. After his death, being the first son, the responsibility of looking after the family rested on my shoulders. This prevented me from pursuing knowledge in Islamic studies abroad, but I was reading every scholarly work I could lay my hands on; such as Fatwa Islamiya from scholars of Makkah, Commentary on Forty Hadith of Nawawi by Jamaludeen Zarabozoo and other works. My beloved wife showed me an IOU advertisement on Islam Channel, London. She has encouraged me to enrol in the BAIS program and I have joined the IOU in September 2011. I have completed the BAIS program in 3 years, Alhamdulillah. IOU is really a blessing for the Muslim Ummah. I had a wonderful time with the IOU tutorial assistants and students. I will enrol in to the MAIS as soon as it starts. Inshallah, my wife will join IOU next semester and enrol in the Islamic Psychology degree program.”
“I have spent decades in Islamic awareness circles (Ijthemas) and I have always been searching for authentic, reliable and flexible Islamic studies course. There are many institutions to join full time but distance or online are very few and unfortunately either in Arabic language only or too expensive. While searching on the net, I found IOU and it met all the criteria I was looking for. May Allah reward the whole IOU team for their efforts. InshaAllah, I am planning to collaborate with IOU in the future projects I am going to participate in.”
“I came to know about the IOU on the internet. I stumbled upon the IOU site when I was researching possible online courses on Islamic studies. I found the IOU site and I said to myself that now I do not have any reason not to study my deen in a formal way, and I know if I did not register Allah will question me so, I registered. I was over excited the first day I attended a live lecture; I remember it was a fiqh lecture and it was an experience that I cannot describe but will live in my memory for a long time. I found live lectures very interesting and have attended as many as I could; sometimes waking up in the middle of the night to attend due to time differences. My overall experience is a memorable one and I thank Allah for giving me this opportunity to be part of the IOU family.”
“Being a housewife with three children never allowed me to go out for classes conducted locally by several Islamic organizations. Desperately, I searched the net to find an online course. With much difficulty, l landed on the IOU website. Alhamdulillah, I readily joined the BAIS course with my husband. Studying the BAIS together had many advantages like discussing the topics and helping the other in areas of doubt. However, there was always a competition between us in gaining higher marks and finishing the modules first. It was a very pleasant experience that IOU has brought us; enlightening us Islamically on various fields of studies like Psychology, Economics, Research methodology, etc. The TAs really helped us a lot to make it through this study. It was a real struggle handling household, children and studies. Nevertheless, Allah provided me with ease to finish my BAIS. I hope to gain more knowledge from the IOU. I thank heartedly and make duas for whole IOU and its members.”
“I was a student of the Free Diploma courses of IOU when I was informed about opening of the BAIS. I applied immediately and was honored with an admission. Studying at IOU was a good experience as well as challenging; studying at IOU saved me a lot of time (as there is no need to travel) but at the same time, it required commitment and hard work. We had wonderful and experienced teachers, who were ready to assist us anytime with study and other issues related to the class. I would like to praise the IOU webpage, which is very practical and gives easy access to the study material, schedule and personal progress during study. I am looking forward to study for the next level of MA at IOU department of MAIS.”
I benefitted a lot from knowledge acquired from the IOU, and the teachers are wonderful Jazakallah khair to all IOU staff
“I learned about the Islamic Online University through a friend who recommended it to me. I am really grateful for having completed my Bachelor’s at IOU. I will cherish every moment spent in the online experience from the wonderful syllabus to the interactive online classes, exciting assignments, to the challenging module tests and exams. Now, having gained authentic knowledge from renowned scholars and tutorial assistants, I aim at sharing the beautiful message of Islam with others.”
A good friend of mine, who was a student at the IOU, introduced the IOU to me, alhamdulillah. At that time, I had no idea I would be studying in this blessed institution one day. SubhanAllah, Allah is the best of planners and I feel grateful for having been chosen by Allah ‘azza wa jal to be a part of the massive student body of the IOU, alhamdulillah. The intensive BAIS program, through its well-thought curriculum and supportive teachers made it possible for me to grow spiritually as well as socially. Alhamdulillah, being among the first graduates of IOU is indeed prestigious and it is a memory that I will forever cherish, inshaAllah. May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala bless IOU and all the people who work day-in and day-out to make the online experience smooth for hundreds of students all over the world.
“Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh In 2010, I came across an email mentioning a new online degree program started by Dr. Bilal. Thinking this to be the golden opportunity for a mother with three kids to learn about our deen from reliable scholars, I jumped in. Initially, I thought it would be quite easy and not require more than 1/2 – 1 hr of studies daily, but I was wrong. Along with live sessions, it was quite demanding and I would occasionally think of quitting or dropping few subjects. Realizing that these were the whispers of shaytan, I did not give up and alhamdulillah, I managed to complete it after a four long years. Now, I realise that this is just the beginning. Seeking knowledge is a lifelong duty and I will always be a student, InshaAllah. Throughout my IOU journey, I have come across some very knowledgeable and enthusiastic TAs and also some very dedicated staff backstage whose efforts often go unnoticed. May Allah bless them all and also Dr. Bilal for this unparalleled initiative to give authentic Islamic education to the masses. And how can I forget some of the sisters living in various counties, who were with me on this beautiful yet demanding journey and have become lifelong friends now. If not for them, I might have had quit. I must also mention that if not for the support of my family, I could not have done it. Finally, all praise is for Allah Who has guided us to this and given us the sabr to persevere, Alhamdulillah. May Allah keep us on the Sirat al Mustaqeem and guide us to implement what we have learnt and to pass it on to others, InshaAllah.”
According to the testimony of sister Bibi Samina, alhamdulillah, her experience at the Islamic Online University has greatly deepen her knowledge in Islam and has helped her to become a better Muslimah. Thus, she strives greatly to incorporate what she learns into her daily life and her family and the people around her, and insha Allah prays that one day she can help change the ‘Nation through Islamic Education’.
